William Floyd and Moore is dedicated to building superior images for connecting to community by designing tools and tasks to counteract the images that disconnect us from family, community and self. Our research explores the power of visual images and their impact on the health of your mind, body, and soul. With our tools and tasks you will learn how to assess and evaluate images. You will also acquire tips on when and where to use images as tools to enhance and heal environments at home, school, work, and worship.
You will discover the following about the power of images:
- Everything that we see, hear, taste, touch and smell creates an image in our mind
- Images command, order and direct our thoughts, emotions, attitudes, actions, reactions and realities
- We respond emotionally to images before we can think them through
- Our visual world is an interpretation of reality that has a subtle,
unconscious impact on how we connect and communicate with others
- Interconnectedness among communities, congregations, couples and
corporations is a natural need we all have
- Disconnectedness is occurring within ourselves and amongst each other for
many reasons
- We contend that one of the reasons is the explosion of negative images
(stories, scenarios, words, pictures) all around us on TV, radio, print,
movies, and Internet
- Some of these negative images can be characterized as:
Sexist, degrading, scantly clad men and women that sell adults everything from candy to cars
- Racist, condescending stereotypes in cartoon characters are featured in
children's entertainment. As a result, we experience abusive, aggressive and addictive behavior
- Negative impacts and feelings include separation, self-doubt, anger,
resentment, fear, anxiety, helplessness, isolation, shame, bitterness,
depression and confusion
- Some of positive images can be characterized as:
Balanced, affirming couples embracing, women celebrating each other, men at
work, families sharing a meal and father reading to children,
Affirming, interconnected youth respecting elders, children playing in snow,
young adults studying, kids working in the garden and teenagers running
As a result, we are empowered, enlightened, and energized
- Positive impacts and feelings include connection, self-worth, peace,
freedom, acceptance, confidence, appreciation, harmony, loving, pride and
confidence
- Our goal is to raise awareness of the impact of images in the home, heart
and health for the mind, body and spirit through our services, sources and
your support.
